The Skinny: For sure, we won’t be seeing ‘skinny’ again in this review. The word just has no bearing on Minami Narusawa’s figure. She’s doing a gravure video in a familiar Bali resort, and despite the bright sunny day and the tropical setting, Minami walks out onto the sun-drenched patio in a Japanese school girl outfit – complete down to the navy socks, penny loafers, a plaid skirt, and a sleeveless navy sweater over a white shirt. I’m not sure why so many of the gravure idols start their videos this way – maybe it is just the director’s sense of giving them something to feel at home in.
Ms Narusawa was somewhat nervous and so she stumbled verbally a few times through her opening remarks. She introduced herself and welcomed us to amazing (sugoi) Bali. She hoped we’d enjoy her DVD, and to help us along in that direction, she offered up her measurements.

Mikie Hara – Healing Fruit / Iyashi no Kajitsu (July 23rd, 2010)

The Skinny: Sexy and beautiful Mikie Hara gets another trip to Bali in this brand new release from Advanced Agency / Tokyo1 called Healing Fruit. Why is Bali so often the preferred choice of the Japanese Gravure production houses? Maybe for them Bali feels more exotic than say Saipan, or Bali has a better sound to it than say Guam, and it is quite likely cheaper than Phuket, Thailand. Anyway, I’m not paying the expenses for the production crew and the model, so I’m happy when they go to a nice place. And this place just might be one of the prettiest locations we’ve seen in a gravure DVD.
Any place will look better with Mikie Hara walking through it in her graceful and beautiful style. To get things rolling, Mikie enters a small elevator car. This one doesn’t go from a top floor to a bottom floor. No, this one is an outdoor elevator that glides up and down the hillside on a track as it takes people to or from the infinity pool area which is still high above the beach. Mikie is stunned by the beauty of the place and she keeps saying, “Sugoi…sugoi” again and again. Sugoi is Japanese for Amazing. She ultimately heads out walking towards the end of the jetty. We see the amazing coast line. Quite a nice intro and in a surprise, this is followed by the montage.

Anri Sugihara – An Lover (July 20th, 2010)

The Skinny: Slim and STACKED. ‘Nuff said. Busty Anri Sugihara shows up in Bali at the eternally wonderful Villa Jatayu.Technically, there’s nothing new to be seen. This is just another of those tedious videos with big boobed Anri bursting forth in one skimpy garment after another.
Just kidding.
I mean about the ‘tedious’. Nothing could be further from the truth which is that Anri is simply great at commanding your attention because she has lots of what is called charisma. She is one of the best when it comes to making eye contact with the camera (viewers).
Of course, you will have to look at her eyes to verify this for yourself. This is easier said than done. You may have to struggle to do so, but great eye contact and great boobs is always a win-win situation.

Hikari Asahi – Bakunyu Sunrise (March 6th, 2010)

The Skinny: A tip from reader Argyle led me to pick up the first gravure video release of Hikari Asahi. This DVD, from Vega Factory’s Step label, has the unlikely title of Bakunyu Sunrise. The translation of that is Gigantic Tits Sunrise. Besides my confusion over the title,which I erroneously reported as Blast Milk Surprise until the proper title was brought to my attention by frequent contributor Zatoichi… it is, unfortunately, a mixed bag of a video. Great boobs are fun to watch, but a video, even with great boobies, still needs to pay attention to the rest of the production details.
As the video begins, Hikari is in one of those mono-kinis. It is in white, and she’s just on a sofa. Nothing much happens in this 2:47 segment other than having the model untie the suit and drape the loose ends between her legs. What follows next is a short verbal introduction by Hikari about herself and she’s still wearing the same mono-kini and still seated on the same sofa.
After a short fade to black, there’s Hikari typing at a computer keyboard. She’s wearing a white blouse and a dark short skirt. The camera gets in so close that we can see the thickness of her eye glass lenses. She’ll stop typing and immediately begin wiping down the walls. We can hear the sounds of the cloth on the walls as well as the breathing of the cameraman.

The Skinny: As previously announced, this is a Guest Review written by my colleague Zatoichi from Osaka, Japan. Over the years, Z and I have had different views on many videos. Some that I’ve loved , he’s hated, and vice-versa. But with regard to Nonami, we’ve both adored her over the years. I have tremendous respect for Z’s views on the gravure idols, and because of that, I’ve asked him numerous times to do a guest review for AoV. Beyond that, I also like his style. So without further preamble, here is Zatoichi’s review.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Takizawa Nonami is the most consistently entertaining gravure idol working today – no other idol’s releases have the same quality as the majority of Nonami’s DVDs. Of course, as the saying goes, even monkeys fall from trees, so Nonami has stumbled a few times (the nadir being the snooze-fest Nagomi) but, thankfully, Himitsu Yūgi is not one of those rare missteps. Still, compared to its sister release, Shirahada Tenshi, it does come up a little lacking.
I’ll take one of each, please.
One of the things I was actually a little surprised about the disc is that it wasn’t anywhere near as risqué as I was anticipating. Recently, Nonami released a photobook called Grand Finale and it is, by far, the most skin we’ve ever seen from her: in many of the pictures she is basically topless, giving the reader quite an eyeful (kind of like what Hanai Miri did about four years ago when she had some photos of her published where she was wearing pasties and little else). And while there is more than a generous amount of Nonami on display in Himitsu Yūgi, it’s not pushing the envelope too much from her previous releases. More

The Skinny: This is a relatively new model with one other title on her resume. To be honest, based on size, she has to placed in the same category as Miyabi Isshiki.
Of course there are differences, but I definitely feel that Hikari Asahi will be heard from again in the form of more DVDs.
