The Skinny: Wow! Mai has been very, very busy this year. In addition to a number of Idol Videos, she’s found the time to appear in at least two Japanese movies, a Japanese TV Series, a couple photo-books, as well as releasing a cd. I guess the obvious answer is that she shows no sign of wear and tear, the demand for her services is high, and she looks grand in this spanking new DVD from Wani Books called Mai Romance.

Right out of the box, I can tell you that this video looks like it is a winner. We’ve got beaches, waterfalls, bikinis, big boobs, and a beautiful girl with a beautiful smile. Mai is almost money in the bank these days.

After the montage we find her in a hotel room. The room has big windows which allow for a lot of sunlight. Mai’s bra is made to look like flower petals stitched together. She doesn’t do much besides posing before the window, laying on a sofa, nibbling on a stemmed cherry, reaching out to the camera, kneeling on a bent wood (bamboo) chair, and one more -looking great.

The next chapter has Mai wearing a very unusual top which might be a vest along with a frilly skirt, an unusual silk bow in her hair, and some boots. The setting is nothing that Mai would write home about, some concrete columns and some graffiti – an un-finished and abandoned structure. Come to think of it, Mai’s top looks like something you might see Sloane of Entourage (Emmanuelle Chriqui) wearing . Before I go off about Sloan, this, whatever it is, top looks very good on Mai.

Three is the one chapter in the DVD that I didn’t care for. Mai wears white against a dark background. The light is strong on her, almost harsh. Mai’s hair is damp if not outright wet, and her big boobs are shown off nicely, but in my opinion, this scene could have been cut from the video with no downside affect.

Four begins around the 20 minute mark. Mai wears some skimpy ‘workout’ clothes – shorts and a top as she does some light aerobics. Maybe I should say she does some bouncing and jiggling and it will have to pass for aerobics. Of course a big beach ball to sit on is brought into play with the net result of more bouncing and more jiggling. Ah, the wonders of a regimented exercise program

Five takes Mai back to the bedroom. The light is somewhat strong rather than moderate. Mai wears a black bikini with lots of glittering sequins. I guess we can call this a seduction scene as that what it seems like to me. I think that despite the tempting treats that Mai displays, the scene still needed softer lighting.

How about a tour of the kitchen? That’s what is on your dance card for the beginning of the next chapter. Mai looks sweet and sexy in a little bit of a knit dress. Or you might call it an extended tank top.

Well, Mai will gulp down some milk right from the carton – when was the last time you saw that anywhere other than you standing in front of your  own refrigerator – before eventually taking us outdoors and then poolside.

Seven has us in another abandoned structure. Mai wears an opened blouse, a tie, smokin’ stockings, lace panties, and some sexy shoes. Stretch and bend is the theme of this chapter.

As Eight begins there’s sexy Mai in a yellow tee shirt and cut off jeans. We are on the beach and soon enough we are going to see busty Ma’s bust make an appearance in a pink bikini. The star of this video jogs, romps, crawls, and looks blessedly beautiful all on a slightly overcast day on this stretch of sand.

Nine is yet another of those harshly lighted scenes that the director seemingly is gaga over. Mai looks sleek and slick, not to mention oily in this one. Black bikini or not, this scene is hard on the eyes.

I mean,  that glare coming from those slick and shiny, oiled-up boobs is tough on the eyes. Repeat – the glare…

Of course if your body does get gobs of oil on it – what comes next? Right! A bubble bath…and a shower. If Mai isn’t wearing all that much, it should be pretty exciting.

Only this time we have still more of the harsh lighting. This scene which should have been priceless had all the excitement of watching the soapy water disappear down the drain.

With less than nine minutes remaining, there’s Mai upcountry. She stands in the streambed. We see a waterfall behind or her. We can’t say the she’s dressed in an outdoorsy style. In fact it might be more proper to say that she’s barely dressed. Whatever.

At 1:08:33, the credit roll. So we have about four minutes left on the reel. The behind the scenes is actually an opportunity for us to watch Mai having her picture taken. Again and Again. Those images on the DVD box cover don’t happen by accident.

Summary: Mai Nishida is one the most beautiful gravure idols. She’s got a great body, a great smile, and she is simply irresistible. In all the scenes you can see that she’s got it all. It is really too bad that the director and the producers gummed up this DVD with at least 4 four scenes that were badly or poorly lighted. What is it? Too many details to think about – probably. Fresh out of film school – maybe. Hate the job – not bloody likely.

Whatever was the reason for the bad lighting is really besides the point. The DVD could have easily dropped one, if not two of the scenes. To the crew at Wani-books: get it together. Sorry Mai – three point seven five with a stipulation – it wasn’t your fault.
