The Skinny: Hot off the presses is the brand new Miyabi Isshiki DVD Gekisha X. The official Release Date was Friday the 16th of April, and the DVD arrived on Friday the 16th. Isn’t express mail wonderful?

• Not much action. Lots of bare skin. All indoors. Slow paced music and slow camera movements. Miyabi doesn’t say a word. Still Miyabi is eminently watchable.

Do those words sound familiar? Those words were from my review of Miyabi’s last DVD, Super Girl wa K-Cup. But those same words fit this DVD. To a T.

Probably because both videos were ‘apparently’ made by the same director/producer/editor. I have to say apparently because neither video had any credits beyond starring: Miyabi Isshiki.

The first chapter in each of the two DVDs were shot in the same room. In each DVD, there’s a scene where you can see stacked futons on some open shelving. And third, each video contained a scene shot in the same bath house.

Basically, I think that either both videos were shot at the same time and place, meaning same day, or both were shot by the same crew with an interval between shooting dates. I’ll not be able to state that those suppositions are factual. However, it does seem that way.

Mind you, even if I had positive proof, there’d be nothing actually wrong with that. Many idols like Yoko Matsugane, Nonami Takizawa, and Rio Natsume, have had double releases. But in those cases, the DVDs were released together. In this case, Super Girl K-Cup was released by Kudeta at the end of February, while Gekisha X was released in mid-April by Japan Media Supply.

Looking at the overview of the scenes, they’re a number of points which can be made for each scene separately as well as collectively:

• 1) Miyabi wears no clothing which might be considered appropriate for the street. You’ll see her in a number of wrappers, sweaters, bikinis, and bra and pantie ensembles. Only in the first scene, where Miyabi wears a striking dress – black with hordes of red flowers, can we say she’s wearing a dress. Of course, this dress is backless, and sideless, which when you factor in that Miyabi is also bra-less, it means that she’s barely dressed.
• 2) In any scene where Miyabi is wearing either a top or a wrapper with either a bikini top or bra beneath it, she will remove that bikini top or bra.
• 3) Miyabi says not a word
• 4) Miyabi doesn’t give us any more than a glimmer of a smile, and that’s only in a few scenes.
• 5) The action is entirely indoors. None of the settings could be considered attractive.
• 6) Miyabi seems to be allowing herself to recorded on video, without particularly trying to involve the viewer. By this I mean that she’s submerged her personality throughout. Yes, she’s following the director’s instructions, but these seem to be limited to angles and postures.

Summary: In retrospect, this DVD is so very similar to the K-Cup DVD which I scored at four point zero. In that review, I discussed the same factors that I described above. Yet I liked that video and recommended it. But this time, I am not so satisfied.

Again, I will reiterate that Miyabi’s contours and good looks will always make her a desirable woman … and despite the similarity of the two videos, I am less inclined to state that I ‘liked’ this DVD.

The simple truth is that you hope the model will engage you as a viewer. You will also hope that a director will not make the same DVD twice and have it put on the market twice. On that basis – I will lower my review rating to three point five.

Miyabi is definitely worth watching, but watching the same video ‘twice’ will only insure that you notice its flaws. But ‘flaws’ is really too strong a term; let’s simply call them bothersome details for the sake of clarity.
