The Skinny: This is the newest DVD from the statuesque and delightful Rui Kiriyama. It was a little confusing to actually the get the video to play. It opens with a live action one minute menu that loops over and over again if you click on the “All Play”.

Instead you must click on the “Movie” menu item which takes you to a static text menu. And there, if you click on All Play, the video launches correctly.

Rui wakes up wearing some decidedly ‘granny-esque’ pajamas. She’ll take them off revealing a skimpy bikini. She immediately starts dressing – a school uniform? Maybe. White shirt, plaid skirt, high socks and a pink tie. Only she doesn’t head out to school. No, first we get some housekeeping. Then she serves a breakfast of coffee, toast, and sunny-side up eggs. A Three question interview follows, then -

bingo she’s back in the same bed, in the same bikini. Kind of a roundabout and unnecessary trip if you ask me.

In Two she arrives home (back from school?) and she’s in that same white shirt and plaid skirt. Now, when she undresses, she’s wearing a different mismatched bikini top and bottoms. Stripes and dots. The music is a nice classical string quartet – think Vivaldi or Mozart. In this chapter she’ll stand on some sort of gizmo that is good for hip swiveling. Then she does some rope jumping. It is a rather spirited and breathless sequence which she follows by scarfing down an ice cream on a stick. Also worth mentioning is the sound track during all of the above. There’s music, there’s Rui’s comments, and there’s also some chatter and laughter from the at least two or three folks who must be part of the production crew.

But this chapter simply won’t end. After the ice cream, and a brief fadeout, there’s Rui back in the same room, in the same mismatched bikini. Now she’s doing doing some stretching exercises on the small two-seater sofa.

When the next chapter begins, we are the 29:35 mark – more than a third of the way through the DVD. In this chapter, Rui again wears disparate tops and bottoms. Here she is working through a series of Yoga poses. Which soon stops and after a very brief fade to black, Rui appears as before, once again working on another ice-cream popsicle. Fortunately, they dispense with the ice cream, again after a brief fade to black, Rui’s back just posing in the same room and in the same costume.

Finally, at the half-way point, a new chapter begins. A brief outdoor establishing shot shows that we are at a sea-side resort. Back indoors, Rui wears a yukata, and this is  preliminary to a bathhouse sequence.

This is a truly fabulous chapter. Rui poses along side the tank, then in the steaming water, then she does her soaping and scrubbing. This was great visually but I’m fairly certain that the sequence was presented out-of-order.

I know that you’re supposed to get squeaky clean before going into the tank.

But that’s neither here nor there as Rui just looks great when she’s wet, or soapy, or sleek and glistening after rinsing off the soap.

Next, Rui’s back in her room wearing red rose styled panties and bra. This is another posing session on a bed. While the posing itself is rather uninspired, the bikini top, with its rose petal design is rather wonderful. Again, don’t misunderstand me, I said the posing was uninspired, but that doesn’t mean Rui doesn’t look spectacular.

The next chapter begins at 55:00 minutes with Rui wearing the yukata we saw earlier. She’s in bed, and she says, See you and good night. Briefly we see her wrapped in gauze which serves as her bra and panties. She’s also in a derelict building, then another brief sequence of Rui is a dominatrix-esque costume including a whip.

But these are dreams because in less that time than it takes for me to write out this description, Rui is back in the same bed tossing and turning. Some how someone else is there and he asks her a question.

Then the next thing you see is Rui back in the school costume, then she’s back wearing the yukata, and ultimately, she removes the yukata to reveal a bikini. This leads to some rather graceful and erotic posing.

Maybe all of that was a dream too – as we next find Rui back in the yukata, back in bed. It’s like she’s having trouble sleeping.

Then more dreams, actually the same dreams – Rui as a dominatrix pursuing the gauze clad Rui. These scenes never work for me. The model as a heroine in peril being pursued – it’s kind of old hat, and we know that the model is only play acting.

Next, at 1:07:30 (only six minutes left), Rui is posing on the floor; actually on some tatami mats. The posing is slow and sexy. Rui’s astounding curves are shown to great advantage in this the final chapter.

Summary: As you may know, I am a big fan of Rui Kiriyama. She is voluptuous yet she still can play demure and cute. She looks great in this video. Visually, the video is superb. I also believe this DVD contained an excellent soundtrack.

But from a continuity perspective, this video was a disaster. I believe that continuity is important, and when the scenes apparently come in a jumbled order, there is a bit of confusion for the viewer, some head scratching, and a bit of feeling disoriented. But this isn’t enough to merit a severe ratings penalty.

As such Rui will get a four point zero for this DVD. It should have been a higher score, and the director, editor, and producer have to take the blame for the jumbled, repetitive, and often puzzling sequencing.
