The Skinny: Perfect model. Not nearly a perfect DVD.

As predicted and as expected, Rui Kiriyama has exploded onto the gravure scene in 2009. Her rise through the ranks has been both swift and dramatic. She’s got it all – a sweet smile, a booty right there with Hitomi Kitamura as best in the business, a huge bust, and a winning cheerfulness that you can’t help but be attracted to.

The first of the main chapters following the opening montage finds Rui on the beach. She won’t go near the ocean but still there’s plenty to like in this chapter including that blue bikini.

Two is actually a weak chapter. Take that with a grain of salt if you like. I call it weak because it is below the standards set in the other chapters. And how bad could it be with a huge busted beauty lolling about in bed in just a bra and panties? I guess I disliked it because it began with Rui in a school uniform and lacked any kind of music track.

Three is a pool setting. So Rui wears a bikini. There’s lots of boobs (nearly) in your face. The underwater camera makes Rui’s booty look amazing. And she”s having a great time despite the cool temps and cold pool water.

Four has Rui dressed up or maybe I should say dressed down to just a red bra and panties plus some jewelry. She is portraying a women of pleasure (my guess) as she comes off as rather tarty. There’s a mirror on the bed (not above the bed but actually on the bed). Rui poses atop of this mirror. While she’s sexy and all, this one seemed a bit out of place. And aside from the change in rooms and costume (and intent), this one comes across as essentially the same as the one two scenes back Rui on a bed.

The 5th scene introduces Rui as an auto mechanic. She slides out from beneath a van in ugly brown coveralls ala Angelina Jolie’s introduction in the 2000 film about car thieves – Gone in Sixty Seconds. Fortunately, that’s just the intro.

Soon Rui is washing this van and the coveralls have vanished leaving her in a bikini that is made to resemble a cut-down tee-shirt. There’s the standard boobs pressed against a soapy window, then some posing inside the van.

Rui is in a black and white bikini in the next one. She’s out in a meadow or pasture. To complete the image of Rui as a Holstein cow, they’ve even found a cute mini-cowbell which she wears around her neck with a red ribbon. She looks spectacular in this bikini. The scene is marred for a few minutes because they have Rui drinking milk out of a big-nippled baby bottle.

Chapter Seven has Rui in a clingy blue leotard. She’s set up on a white leather sofa. The scene has Rui emphasizing her boobs throughout the chapter.

There’s also a good many closeups. Then, in case we missed noticing how busty she is – she’ll pick up a scissors and cut some holes in the leotard.

Eight features Rui as as a sexy cleaning lady. She wears a cut-down tank top which reveals the bottoms of her boobs, and pink bikini bottoms to show off her bottom.Don’t worry. There’s no mops, no ironing boards, and no vacuum cleaner in sight. It’s just a small dust cloth which is soon abandoned so Rui can get down to her real business – posing and looking cute and busty.

Nine is a bathtub scene. Rui enters wrapped in a white towel. The camera backs off a bit and angles down toward Rui’s feet. The towel comes off and drops to the floor. No, she’s not nude – but she does wear only a dark beige bra and panties.

Yes there’s some liquid soap, and for once, she applies it herself rather than having someone off-screen pour it into her cleavage as we’ve seen dozens and dozens of times.

The 10th Chapter has two parts. The beginning has Rui in a tee shirt and skirt. She comes out onto this rooftop with a wireless microphone. Will she sing?

No. What she does is dance (not too well) and strip down to a pink and white striped bikini. In the second part she’ll use this rooftop ladder structure as she would if she was a pole dancer.

The 11th and last of the main chapters is a slow posing session. Rui wears a beige slip over panties and it looks like she’s bra-less beneath the slip. She’s posing outdoors within some coral or rock formations by the sea. There’s a small tidal pool o beneath all this and Rui doesn’t do much except pose. It looks uncomfortable as she’s lying on rocks that are covered in a green moss.

Next is the standard I-One Tee shirt signing. As usual this is no more than a minute. A One-page credits card is next with no clue as to where the video was shot. My guess is Okinawa. The bonus chapter runs about 3 minutes and change and this is the usual making of and behind the scenes.

Summary: If you are looking for a big-bust idol more than willing to show off her curvy body, then Rui Kiriyama is just what you want. She’s certainly stacked to say the least. Other pluses include that she smiles often and willingly, that every one of her costumes and every scene has designed to show off how busty she is.

There’s a few minuses too. Generic non-vocal elevator music that we’ve all heard before in other gravure DVDs is not going to get you any praise. It seems obvious that not much effort at all was put into the music tracks. Spotty editing – some facial closeups are too long, and other scenes have some jarring cuts. And lastly, the video is rather flat technically. There was nothing creative in the presentations. This won’t really create any less pleasure for you viewers, but one would think that with a rising star in the gravure field like Rui Kiriyama, that I-One would have put  more effort into this DVD.

If this DVD is going to stand out from the crowded field of gravure Idol videos, then all the credit must go to the  idol herself, Rui Kiriyama, rather than the producers at I-One. Four point five is the rating but it should have been higher considering the package and presence that Rui brings on-screen.
