Mikie Hara – Moso Days (October 20th, 2009)

The Skinny: While Mikie Hara plays a hostess on regular, or maybe I should say late night Japanese TV in the currently running series, Jyouou Virgin, her Double DVD release was perfectly timed by I-One to hit the shelves on October 20th, right in the midst of the series. A nice marketing ploy by Line Communications.
However, Mikie Hara doesn’t need a gimmick to sell her videos. But maybe they really rushed this one out, as part of a double release, so it would appear during the TV series, because this DVD is kind of flawed.
Moso Days is actually the 2nd in the double release. As the montage opens. Mikie enters a hotel room announcing, “Tadaima – I’m Home“. She’s in some sort of uniform – maybe a cabin attendant, or a tour-guide. This ‘character’ will re-appear at intervals throughout the video. Even though it is Mikie, it is still somewhat annoying. It is as if she’s filling in for a few moments until the next scene.
The montage itself shows a lot more cleavage with a lot more wiggle and jiggle than we are used to by Mikie. But the music is terrible. That’s just a warning for the montage. You may lower the volume.
As the first main chapter begins Mikie is poolside. She wears a sunhat and a metallic looking gold bikini. indications are that we are in Bali (the old stone wall). Mikie clings to the umbrella’s pole while either sitting or standing. That’s Part I. Part II has her in the pool.Without the hat.But only on the top few steps.
The second of the main chapters has Mikie in a sexy satin nurse’s outfit. She’ll listen to our heartbeat, take our temperature, yadda-yadda. But the real treat is when she takes off the satin nurse’s dress to reveal a beautiful mother-of-pearl satin and lace bra and panties set for some posing.
Three is a car wash scene. Mikie is wearing a yellow bikini with a tee shirt to begin with. Did you ever notice that when a model washes a car there’s always very little water pressure. Soon the Tee-shirt goes, and Mikie gives herself a good soaping with that huge sponge.
Four has Mikie doing some art with colored magic markers. But the camera keeps peeking down into her cleavage. After a couple of interruptions where Mikie asks for a minute, Chotto, before she finally acquiesces to pose. The room has a beautiful polished hardwood floor, but overall the room is too bright and sunny.
Five – Mikie dances on a paved sidewalk that wends it way through a the hotel’s grounds. She’s not much of a dancer, but the wiggle and jiggle is fine.
After that workout – Mikie is in the bathtub. This is another of Bali’s hidden treats – the outdoor bath. Mikie is kind of a chatterbox during this scene. After lots of soap suds are applied, Mikie finally relaxes.
They should have shot this later in the day, as the bright lights and the white background may give you some problems. Mikie had no problems looking fabulous.
Mikie next shows up in a ‘Bunny’ outfit. Red satin, bunny ears, fishnet stockings, small little white cuffs for her wrists and a pool cue-stick. The lighting is fairly low. Not a single pool shot is taken. The lighting improves as Mikie climbs up on the table to pose. But the scene is really weak.
Mikie is next in pink and white. She’s applying some body lotion before getting down to some serious posing. There was a lot of ambient noise which was distracting. Finally they said, time to add in the music track. And that fixed the noise. This scene suffers from not enough movement by the model. You can blame the director for that.
This scene also had another minute tacked on after what you thought was the fade put. Mikie re-appears, and seems to be putting the final touches of the lotion on AGAIN. And we have the same distracting noise AGAIN. The she puts on a pair of eye glasses and begins to read. Let’s place the blame for this continuity gaffe on the editor. I suppose they thought that they needed to introduce Mikie in eye-glasses to set the stage for the next scene which begins with a dressed Mikie with eyeglasses. Mikie looks good in eyeglasses.
And look, you can even see the cameraman reflected in Mikie’s glasses. I’d rather see her eyes, but hey, that’s just me.
Mikie does take off the suit’s top and skirt and finishes the scene in a bra and panties. She will spend most of this scene on her knees leaning over one end of the sofa, which is the same as the preceding scene with the body lotion.
The last of the main chapters has Mikie as the CA/TG who we’ve seen repeatedly in the video earlier. She on a bed and she’s going to strip down to a red with black trim bra and panties. They don’t ask her to do much except crawl around on the bed on her knees.
The I-One tee-shirt autograph segment is next, and when that’s done we will see the montage from the companion DVD. There’s some making of footage, a mini-interview, and some Polaroid images as a slide show. This is a the standard I-One package.
Summary: I haven’t watched the first release of this set yet. But if you watch this one to its conclusion, and pay attention to the making of and behind the scenes segment, you will notice that the lighting and lens exposure is far better in the bonus segments than in many of the main chapter scenes.
The director Nomura-san too often shot with a strong lighted background, or white walls, or something bright And it was annoying. He also wasn’t particularly imaginative in giving Mikie a good game plan for action in the main chapters, so too often, she was posed in a static position, with nothing to do, except turn her head and smile. We saw only small camera movements on lieu of motion.
And my final complaint is that the editing was pedestrian at best. You’d be waiting for something to happen, or they would be reaching a part of shot that would look good, and ZAP! The editing changed the angle.
Sorry Mikie fans, this isn’t a top notch video which is very disappointing, and totally unexpected from I-One. Mikie looks great (expected) but at times she looks perplexed as she wasn’t given much in the way of instructions. Three point five and recommended (it is Mikie Hara after all) but with reservations.
