The Skinny: This is early Yoko circa December 18, 2002 and it is the 1st of a new Category called Classic Reviews or maybe we could call it Retro Reviews. This was just Yoko Matsugane’s 4th DVD. It followed Dulcet, Spiritual, and Enrapture. Who could have envisioned 6 1/2 years ago, that Yoko would still be stopping men dead in their tracks in 2009 as well as still being the reigning Gravure Queen. That’s a question with no answer, right? Lest we lose any more time debating that imponderable – let’s look at the review that I wrote way back in 2003. BTW, many of the images were captioned by Al-The-Editor. In fact all of the captions were written by Al, who passed away in June of 2006.

Hana Haruna – Haruhana (May 25th, 2009)

The Skinny: After the exhilarating Hana no Mai, which was released a month ago on April 25th, this new DVD starring Hana Haruna, is best described as disappointing. Oh, Hana still looks good, but as a video, it just wasn’t as good as I had hoped for. In fact, the superb cover image (see above) is a brilliantly conceived and executed image to veritably make this DVD a best seller, and it is taken from the video’s best and only superb scene.

Kei Megumi – Petit Diva (March 14th, 2008)

The Skinny: The improbably huge busted Kei Megumi, cavorts in this release from Evolution. This DVD, released in March of 2008, was the launching pad for her career expansion. Since then, Megumi-chan has worked both sides of the street – meaning both IV (Gravure Idol) and JAV.
This one is a melange of all the cliched big boobs gimmicks that you know, plus a few that you don’t know. You do know ice cream popsicles, plastic ropes, gooey gels, and so forth. Just because some of these tricks are kind of tired from over-use, that doesn’t mean that Megumi looks anything less than good doing them.

The Skinny: Another in the excellent Beach Angel series. This time we have the busty and very cute Mai Nishida off to El Nido in the Philippines. Folks, this is as good as it gets as a resort. And almost as good as it gets for a gravure video.

When Hanai Miri debuted back in 2003, she was notable not only for her face, figure and natural charisma, but she was, for the time, one of the more risque main stream idols. Three years later, as other idols had gotten closer and closer to actual nudity and more obviously sexual themes, Miri had gone in the opposite direction: she was becoming more conservative in her costumes, but was also doing some very experimental things in her releases. Then, at the end of 2006, Miri took a hiatus. She returned in mid-2008 with the release of In Secret, and it was almost as if she was at the beginning of her career again: the bikinis and costumes were as small or smaller than they had ever been and most of the fringe elements had been removed. Miri was in a pure glamour mode. This can also be said for her follow up DVD, Cara.
You’ll be seeing a lot of handbras. Get used to it.
And so, the lovely Miri has graced us with a third DVD in the space of a year, Maison De Miri.
