The Skinny: This is a brand new double release from the I-One folks starring Sayaka Tashiro, who last appeared on our pages way back in December of 2007. This time she’s going to delight you with one video, Saya Deluxe (above) that was shot at a resort on Cebu, in the Philippines; and the other, Yukemuri Sayaka (below) looks like it was made in Japan or Okinawa.
Actually, Sayaka has been quite busy. In addition to these two DVDs which were released a few days ago on the 20th of April, she is also appearing in Gift, from Liverpool Productions (cover is just below) which just hit the shelves on the 24th of April. That’s three DVD’s released in a span of 4 days.
I’ve always liked this Sayaka. Those of you who have been reading my columns for awhile know I already adore Sayaka Ando. But this Sayaka is cute and bubbly, she’s got a very expressive face, and she’s got a great tail section which she will gladly display or wiggle upon direction. In that regard, she’s on a par with the best of them including Hitomi Kitamura.
But Sayaka Tashiro is also able to play sultry and desireable. She can be exciting like Yoko Matsugane with her propensity of posing with the camera behind her, focusing on her caboose, and yet, she’s looking over her shoulder watching us at the same time. She can also display unrestrained exuberance, and mock exasperation.
And best of all, in these videos, Sayaka takes great care to involve the viewer. Whether she is speaking directly to us, or whether she is, not so much performing for the camera, but instead, letting the real Sayaka out for everyone to see and watch, the pleasure is all ours.
There’s a lot of material to cover in a double review so I’m going to do a condensed review and illustrate some highlights without going through a chapter by chapter pros and cons for you.
In Saya Deluxe, this is the one made in Cebu, there’s scenes on the beach, at the pool, and in the bath that are outstanding. Also worthy of mention is the fact that the director has decided to give Sayaka a lot of facial closeups, in a sense, to share with we viewers and allow her to display her virtuosity in different expressions.
Of course, there’s a great deal of attention paid to the famous Tashiro butt – and this is a very good thing for us; a very good thing indeed.
Summary: A well made DVD with hardly any wasted minutes. Sometimes I had the feeling that the director employed too many closeups despite the fact that many of them were very effective.
Sayaka’s chatter proved she was a fun person to be with but this was only a variation instead of doing an interview. Three point seven five, but recommended.
The other DVD, called Yukemuri Sayaka, opens on a beach but quickly leads to a shower. Sayaka flirts with us and sets the tone.
This DVD is apparently set in Japan as it has a much more traditional flavor to it. For example there’s a hot springs (onsen) and as Sayaka soaks in it, we can see steam rising.
Instead of a western-style hotel bedroom, in this video, the bedroom scene has Sayaka on a futon which is on the floor.
She’ll wear a red kimono at the beginning of a bathing scene, and we saw no such garment in the Deluxe video.
Of course there are other Japanese indicators as well. In the shower scene, after the opening on the beach, Sayaka sits on one of those low plastic stools that you find in all Japanese bath houses. Sometimes they’re made of wood, and whether wood or plastic, this is what you sit on while soaping up and scrubbing – only a clean body can enter the tub for a relaxing soak.
There’s also a short sequence with Sayaka working on an ice cream on a stick held by someone else. While this isn’t particularly Japanese, we have come to see such scenes fairly often in the gravure genre.
Summary: In my opinion, this was the better of the two videos. Sayaka appeared in more adult way – she seemed more sophisticated, and there was a bit less of the kidding around. I also adored the onsen chapter. As such, I will recommend this DVD as well as DeLuxe, yet I’ll score this a quarter point higher at four point zero.
