Well categorizing this is problematic. First of all there's no sex. But Hitomi is topless in at least some of this video. On that basis alone, we probably can't place this DVD in the gravure niche.

My thoughts are that the magazine contains advertising. Magazine advertising is priced on circulation figures - you know; how many subscribers plus how many copies are sold over the counter at newstands, train stations, airports, etc.

The magazine will go the expense of manufacturing the DVD as a free insert into the magazine because the DVD will help sell the magazine and keep the ad rates where the magazine needs them to be. Hitomi, or which ever model, is already hired to model. The DVD footage of the modeling session, which will promote the magazine sales, will also promote the model, so that sales of her other DVDs will continue to do well.

In Japan, this is a rather common practice. Bejean is another Japanese magazine that does this. Though I can't speak from any factual standpoint, it stands to reason that the Video Production houses and some of the magazines may very well be separate divisions of some huge parent company or conglomerate.

This kind of joint effort makes complete sense to me.

In the west, you can find similar 'free discs' in the magazines that support the video game industry, and you can find 'free' PC Utilities discs as well.

Even in the movie industry, you can find that promotional preview discs are also placed in retail outlets well before the actual movie is released in order to create a buzz.

Sorry for the lengthy reply which strayed somewhat from your original question.

fortunately we still have the good old days ... though maybe without Hitomi. As always, thanks for the comments.

It's so good to see Hitomi in an old-school way once again, she was one of my favorites til' we know what and now she's just in the past for me.

Of course, her smile and her body are awesome. Ahhhh... how I miss these old times...

Greetings.
