Miho Ishii – Hajimete no Miho (June 25, 2008)

The Skinny: I believe this was Miho Ishii’s first gravure DVD. It must have been fairly well received as Miho went on in 2008 to do two more DVD’s. Kudos to Air Control/Melon for being the first to introduce Miho to gravure fans.

A well made montage that plays beneath the Chapter Title Card gets us off to a good start. We see vibrant, rich colors and that’s always a sign that these dudes know how to manage lighting. This is followed by – guess what? A second montage! Then finally we get to the first chapter.

Miho wears a white knit bikini. She looks great and the setting is even better. They’ve found a beautiful forest with a small shallow creek bed, and doesn’t it look wonderful? Then Miho wears another white bikini, this time with white mesh stockings for the second stanza.

There’s some interesting shots as Miho stands or kneels on a table and the camera looks up toward her from a lower position.

Three has Miho seated on a couch as a seemingly endless supply of small balloons are dropped into the setting. As she’s wearing a stretchy off the shoulder sweater we don’t get to see much of her figure. But she’s having fun.

Four has a darker setting. Miho wears an unusual bikini that somehow connects her bikini top and bottom. She’s also wearing fingerless lace gloves that go nearly to her elbows. She basically just clings to a wood pole and looks sexy. This scene also used a billiard table as part of the set. I think they did a good job with the lighting in this chapter as there always some shadows to create atmosphere. On the other hand Miho plays this scene without offering many smiles.

We then get some sunlight as well as Miho playing on the beach. This chapter does a pretty good job considering that the sky was overcast with some storm clouds in sight.

Next we find Miho with a sheen on her body (no doubt the result of an application of some body oils. She wearing a nice brocaded bikini. The location is the beach-side outer hallway of a badly run-down old hotel in need of lots of sprucing up. Miho basically doesn’t do much as the camera creates does most of the movements with one exception as the camera follows Miho as she walks up a staircase. Wonderful.

Next we have Miho in a clingy one piece swim suit, She poses nicely on some tatami mats. The back of her suit has a number of large bows which you don’t see very often. They did a good job mixing the ambient sunlight with some of their own soft light. The scene has a certain glow to it.

A massage for Miho is next. She tells us, “Kimoji des,” (it feels good) again and again.

After the massage, Miho enters the room wearing a very short red dress. Which is fine but the setting is wrong for that dress. Niho sits at a wooden table under a large umbrella. It looks more like a picnic table setting than a fancy dinner club. Her red feather boa is fun and beautiful but it kind of obscures the view.Still. Miho looks very good with her hair up.

Next Miho is set up for posing outdoors, It looks like they wrapped up her boobs in a scarf. The camera work and direction was only middling for this scene. I mean if you are going to zoom in for a facial closeup, then you have to tell the model to take her hands away from her face. A plus is that we get to hear Miho’s laughter and the music track at the same time. No complaints about Miho though.

Next come the closing credits which are done with another montage. That was a nice touch. This serves as a recap of the video. Ten minutes of behind the scenes follow.

This is most of the set ups for the still photographer. We hear the directions being given to Miho. Some of this is excellent and some is just so-so. But it doesn’t matter as all of it is just additional opportunity to see a splendid model at work.

Summary: It is easy to see the impact made by Miho Ishii in this her debut video. And even easier to see why she was able to get more contracts for videos following this one. I believe this one was hampered to a degree by the spring weather, but that just meant we didn’t get to see any scenes with bright sunshine, and we can’t hold that against them.

Basically I really like Miho. I reviewed her most recent video, New Kiss here and thought it was the weakest of the three. Her second DVD was Intelligence and that one got a 4.00 zero. This one will also get a four point zero.
