The Skinny: While this DVD has Hitomi Kitamura who is a wonderful model, and a visual treat all by herself, something is lacking in this video. And I might just call it ‘spirit’or maybe we can call it energy. I mean that for most of this DVD, Hitomi-chan doesn’t look like she’s having fun. While she’s really not sleepwalking through the scenes, calling the video ‘sparkling’ doesn’t make it so.
And the reason why? The Director did all the work himself. Okay Hitomi – stand here, or sit there, or lay down facing this way – after she did all of this, the camera was the entity in motion – not Hitomi. She’d always make her turns to maintain eye contact, but frankly, she seemed bored. However, lest you think that this alone would make for a bad DVD, be assured that there’s a lot of variety. Plenty of scenes all of which are very short. So while the model didn’t do much, the director and the editor worked their tails off.
I couldn’t determine where this DVD was shot, but there wasn’t a beach. The weather wasn’t that great either.
There was one scene where Hitomi is dressed in a blouse and skirt. Got that? A blouse and skirt! She prepares dinner for herself and someone. Ok maybe the someone is us. But it is a hot pot. So she doesn’t do much except drop the ingredients in to the hot water. Once she starts eating, she asks us to leave. That’s right – we are shown the door. Hitomi points at the door, and gestures for us to head for it. It’s not like we committed some etiquette taboo by using the salad fork for the main course as there were no forks – just chopsticks. Oh well. Maybe next time.
Hitomi’s signature scenes are included. You know, or you should know them – the ripped, torn, or cut-off sweat shirt, and the obligatory booty shots. The shaggy, woolly sweater with no bra made the cut, as did the sports scene – this time it was the ubiquitous Frisbee.
There was swimming pool but it must have been too cool as Hitomi did not swim. But there was a bath-tub hand-held shower scene for you fans who like the aquatic chapters.Summary: At 71 minutes with just over 60 minutes for the main chapters, the DVD has acceptable length, lots of short chapters, many costume changes, and a sexy model. What it doesn’t have is obvious. Just look and see in the images included how few of the many have Hitomi smiling or looking as if she is ‘upbeat’ in or high spirits.
Summary: I can’t rate this DVD any higher than a three point zero. There just wasn’t enough of the high-spirited, energetic Hitomi. This was more of the languid Hitomi as well as languid camera movements. While watching Hitomi Kitamura is always a pleasure, this one was just a tad slow moving for my taste. While a three point zero is not a bad score, this DVD definitely doesn’t sparkle.
