The Skinny: Hina Hanami is a new model and this is just her second DVD. It seems like she’s desperate to get naked but you know it won’t happen in this video. She has a marvelous figure but she hasn’t learned a lot of chops as a gravure idol. Sort of reminds one of Rio Natsume at the beginning of her career when she was starting to get the hang of how to dazzle men while on screen. It would have been nice if Hina got some help from the director. But that didn’t happen either.
You know what they say about not being able to judge a book by its cover. Well the same is true in Gravure Videos.I hadn’t heard of Ms Hanami before but when I saw the cover, I snapped up the DVD. She is an attractive woman with an imposing bust; in fact she is much like the aforementioned Rio Natsume. But in this DVD, she doesn’t do much more than squeeze her boobs together and stick out her tongue at us again and again.
I think at least some of this video was shot in Bali. At least the grounds of the hotel seem to suggest this, and I think Hina mentioned it in the interview which was in the bonus section. But we do not get to the beach in Flower. And there’s only one pool scene - more on that later. But most of the video seems to have very plain and unexciting indoor sets. I think that Hina appeared in Japan for some of this video as well as in Bali; in one of the last scenes, Hina appears in a red teddy, or bedroom wear, with a view of a big city, unlike any in Bali.
Basically, she wears an assortment of bikinis. There’s one scene where she’s dressed in standard school garb - a white blouse and a plaid skirt. In that scene she was instructed to tease the viewers by continually lifting her skirt to show off not only her panties but her curvy butt as well.
In the pool scene they give her a round flotation device, the kind you usually see on ships. She paddles around the pool with this life preserver and what this does is to obscure her boobs from view. They sprung for an underwater housing for the camera, but between the model and the camera operator, they didn’t really make good use of it. Also the pool scene was the only scene in the main chapters where we heard the model speak.
Most of the scenes could easily be categorized as dull an uninteresting. But we won’t lay the blame for that on the model as she look uniformly good. They just didn’t pick out nice settings or ask her to do much.
Summary: The DVD itself was a crisp transfer, and the light management and color was really good. Other pluses were that there were a lot of scenes, and the model had a wonderful figure. Too bad the images that they shot not only didn’t serve the model well, but they won’t make the viewers happy either. I would like to see Hina’s debut DVD (cover below) but we’ll wait and see. All in all, this was a disappointing effort by the director and producer. As such I’ll not give it too many rating points. Two point seven five is as high as I’ll go.
