The Skinny: As a gravure model, Mizuki Horii is certainly in the right business. She’s tiny. She’s quite cute. And she’s very busty. Her great boobs and sensational butt are top of the line. Viva Mizuki-chan. I think this is the first video review I’ve done for the Spice Visual label. While this is a fine DVD, and I can’t really say that it is flawed, but imho, the direction is rather pedestrian. In other words, there’s nothing on screen to differentiate this Mizuki Horii DVD from many of the others that she’s done. You’ve seen all of this before.
You can see that the cover photo, just above The Skinny, is terrific. Lovely Mizuki sort of hems in her boobs between her arms as she leans forward. The effect is startling as this positions her cleavage into perfect prominence. Now that I’ve said that, I’m thinking that her bust can’t be anything but prominent, and the producer hammers this point home again and again.
There’s a dozen chapters which include the opening montage as well as the closing credits. So that leaves 10 main chapters. There’s also a lengthy bonus movie which runs about 14 minutes. This is mostly Mizuki doing a voice-over as many of the behind-the-scenes footage from the various chapters provides the visuals.
With Chapter One being the opening montage, Two is the first of the main chapters. The setting is a school gymnasium with Mizuki wearing a standardized Japanese school girl outfit, You know the kind – sailor style shirt, short skirt, white sox, and loafers. She doesn’t do much except work her way out of the costume; until she’s just clad in a bra and panties.
Three begins at a resort’s swimming pool. Mizuki is wearing a one-piece navy bathing suit trimmed with white and orange. First she does some light aerobics, then she fake swims while laying on an inflated plastic donut. And the 3rd part of this chapter has Mizuki eating an entire ice cram popsicle on a stick. Ho hum.
Four is approproately entitled “Good Morning”. Your guess is correct if you said this scene would begin with Mizuki in bed as she wakes up. She says “Ohayo” and then the scene commences in earnest. Mizuki shows off her fine figure as she poses coquettishly while crawling around on the twin beds that have been pushed together. Then the beds are separated and she jumps around on them. Finally she settles in and applies some lotion onto her body. A three part scene or three for one. Whichever you want to call it, this chapter was nicely done.
Five has Mizuki in the bath room. This is the commmunal bath, not a personal hotel room bathroom. Here one scrubs and soaps up before rinsing off and then, already clean, one enters the steamy hot springs bath. Here Mizuki is wearing a brief black bikini as she sits on the little stool while soaping. Once she is completely rinsed off, she’ll flaunt her bust for us. Sadly she never does get into the hot bath to relax.
After that it’s out to the badminton court. Here Mizuki closely resembles another famous non-athletic gravure idol, namely Rio Natsume. She looks good on the court, but she’s not really good at hitting the shuttlecock. Fortunately, they abandon the badminton action quickly enough for some posing. They’ll use the net, a white bench, and the badminton racquet itself as props to show off Mizuki in a bold red bikini.
Seven is entitled Nurse. Mizuki wears a nurse’s outfit. In an odd sequence she first places a bag of ice cubes on ‘our’ head, then takes ‘our’ temperature with an oral thermometer, then checks ‘our’ heart beat with a stethoscope. Her conclusion from this cursory ‘exam’ is that we need a massage. Mizuki play acts at giving a massage as we neither see arms, legs, or a torso. Luckily they cut this short. Mizuki then poses for us. And doesn’t she look cute with those cute hair braids. As the nurse costume gives way, Mizuki reveals a beautiful bra and panties set in a pale green with pink lace design. Later in the same scene Mizuki uses a melting ice cube which drips pleasantly into her cleavage.
Eight is called “Exercise”. Mizuki begins by jogging, then shadow boxing, then she throws some punches at a stationary tree, and finally, she uses one of those big beach balls to bounce on. Nothing new here of course, but still, Mizuki displays high energy which makes the scene fun.
Nine finds Mizuki in a brownish bikini. There’s an indoor pool, and an open stall shower. Mizuki neither swims in the pool or gets her hair wet in the shower. As we’ve seen earlier in the DVD, Mizuki will use some prop to press against her boobs. This time it is tubular railing that people hold onto while entering or leaving the pool. Earlier it was a white bench, a table top, and even the low wall divider in the communal bath. As I said at the beginning, they do make every effort to make her bust as prominent as possible.
Ten finds us back in the bedroom as Mizuki wears a sexy black and red boudoir ensemble. At first the lighting is dim as Mizuki presses her boobs against the top of dresser. The she discards the red part of the outfit and is just in a bra and panties. She presses against a lengthy bolster which is really a long round pillow before reclining.
She then goes through a series of sexy pouts and alluring expressions to entice us. But I don’t think ‘allure’ is Mizuki’s strong suit. She’s much better at playful and cute.
In eleven, Mizuki greets us and walks down the aisle in a church. She’s wearing a sleeveless turtleneck sweater, and a short but not extremely short length skirt. As she goes further into the church she will lift her skirt to show off her panties back and front. Eventually she’ll lift up her sweater to show of bra-encased boobs. While I do like what I see, my question is “Why do this in a church?”
Next are the credits. Mizuki is back in the opening costume as the school girl. She mops the hardwood floor of the basketball court as the credits roll. I wonder what the school would have said if they saw Mizuki walking on that fine wooden floor in her leather sole and heels loafers.
Summary: I’ve generally given Mizuki good marks on her DVDs. I’ll score this one at just three point seven five. It’s 2008 and we shouldn’t have to watch a model eating an ice cream on a stick any longer. Also I think that sitting and bouncing on a beach ball is played out. A soak in the bath would have been nice to watch – you know, with the steam rising. Finally, you can’t go wrong with a Mizuki Horii DVD but to bring her to the poolside in two separate Chapters and not have go into the water, was disappointing. JMM – Thanks for the fine review. I cannot disagree with a single thing you say here, but after several viewings of this DVD I still give it a 4.9 rating.
I’ll explain.
All Mizuki DVDs (before even watching them) automatically start out with a 5.0 for me (simply because the subject matter is Mizuki), and this one gets a tenth of a point deduction (for the reasons you stated in your review).
Not very objective, I admit.
But Mizuki DVDs get pretty much of a free pass from me.
Only Nonami Takizawa DVDs always get a completely free pass from me …
and by the way, I certainly agree with your 5.0 for her most recent effort.

Mizuki is cute and she does grown on you, you’re perfectly free to rate this DVD higher than I do, for your own reasons – including that of giving Horii-san a free pass.
And I agree the Nonami really has the ‘it’ that we want in an idol.
