Yoko Matsugane – Yoko Matsugane no Muzugi de Golf – Lesson Hen
E-Net Frontier
Catalog # ENFD-4116 – Region 2 – 4:3 Standard Aspect – MPEG-2
Running Time: 70 Minutes

The Skinny: While looking at Yoko-chan is an always exciting event, this DVD won’t be creating too much excitement for her ardent fans. With one person playing a round of golf, and learning as she goes, there’s no sense of competition. There’s no thrill of victory. Fortunately, for you as a viewer, there’s no agony of defeat either.

Lush bodied Yoko Matsugane takes up golf in the first of two Golf Lesson releases. The second one is due for release later this month on September 19th. For the record, in the first one, Yoko’s coach is Akio Sakuma. His job – to teach Yoko how to improve her golf game. She’s no rank beginner. Clearly, she’s handled a golf club before. This saves us from having to endure some excruciatingly poor golf which is usually the case if the player has no experience at all.

For those of us watching this video for Yoko rather than watching how well she plays, there’s a few of bikinis in lieu of golf clothing. Whether or not the brevity of Yoko’s bikini’s makes Akio’s job more difficult is hard to say as he appears to be level headed, even tempered, and basically unmoved by Yoko’s attire throughout.

From driving, to putting, to blasting out of sand-traps, Yoko seems to have a firm grasp on the intricacies of playing a successful round of golf. While this may be gratifying to her, it’s not exactly scintillating as a gravure idol DVD.

There’s some brief pool bikini and pool footage offered. Is this a thank you for watching? Maybe, but this does allow we fans of the form divine to get some jollies without watching Yoko navigate the golf course. Doesn’t Yoko look so sexy when wet and sleek? Sadly these moments are only a small part of the DVD. For the most part, this DVD concentrates on Yoko’s golf lessons.

Summary: Famed sports author John Feinstein wrote a book, published in May 2005, about golf called, A Good Walk Spoiled. His view was that even for Golf Pro’s, it is a difficult game.

While we don’t exactly walk the fairways with Yoko, those expecting a standard gravure DVD might be disappointed and think of this DVD as an hour on the sofa spoiled. I wasn’t disappointed, nor do I feel that my day was spoiled, but I do feel that Yoko and her agents should stick to the basics and let Yoko ganbatte ikimasshoi which translates as give it your all, or do your best, on the beach rather than on the golf course. Three point zero out of five.

Above is the cover of the sequel. Below we offer some places for you to buy this DVD without having to speak any Japanese, from some English language Web vendors.

Nice job on the review, as always. I picked up Yoko’s yoga dvd and found it a great watch, even though it wasn’t typical idol fare. I don’t think I’ll be buying this, however, as my appreciation of Yoko doesn’t quite eclipse my distaste for golf. Keep up the good work !

Hi Van – thanks for the comments.
I like golf, but forcing the issue of a gravure idol playing golf as the the main context of the DVD, wasn’t the best of choices.
Still as I said in the review – it can’t be bad watching her. As for the review of the Yoko Yoga DVD it is in the works. I’ll have it done shortly.

I’ve heard some good things about this blog. Remember to balance the pics with the text tho. cheers!

Thanks for the comments/compliments -
While balance is ideal, and IS an overall goal – sometimes we have to stray slightly because -
1) the DVD is packed with a multitude of fine images – and we end up showing rather than telling
2) The DVD is less than ideal, and or the scenes are all so similar that less pictures are needed.
Further constructive comments are always appreciated.

“James” is a spambot who wants you to go to that link he provided. In fact, you’ve got quite a few spambot messages on your blog. They’re easy to spot due to the generic faux politeness of the messages in it.
“Hi! I just found your blog about [insert title of thread/blog entry here]. Very interesting. Good read.” Or something like that.

Yeah, there was one reader/writer who had 3 or 4 different names all attached to the same email addy. Those are the ones you are referring to/
James did write one previous message but it didn’t contain any links. So maybe James is OK and not a spambot. In any event I deleted the reference.
Thanks.
