The Skinny: First the good news. Kanako Hosaka has a great body. Now the bad news. This is either her first or second DVD and it shows. She’s either a tad nervous, or unsure of what to do, so you see her looking off for instructions or directions far too often. More good news - in her next DVD, her co-star is the super-busty Fuko. This will guarantee Kanako a far greater exposure to the buying public than she might get just on the basis of this DVD. As an example, Miyabi Isshiki did a DVD with Fuko called Chichi Darake and her career has blossomed since then.

Since this DVD is a Takeshobo production, you can expect certain perks like top notch resort locations in Bali, Phuket, Pattaya, and Saipan. Or excellent production values for hair, makeup, and costumes. And finally superb digital transfers from the original to the DVD media that you and I watch in our homes.

To begin, we have the usual montage, just clips with no graphics or editing gimmicks. The first main chapter starts when Kanako shows up at the pool of this Balinese resort in a white track suit with yellow and green trim. When the track suit comes off we are happy to see Kanako in a snug fitting Arena one piece tank suit. The beauty of these swimsuit wonders is that really show off the shape of the model. You’re right, the cleavage is mostly obscured, but if the model has a full bust you’re going see it, despite the covering.

Unfortunately, after a brief initial view, they have her on the steps, front side down for most of the scene. What were they thinking?

Scene two begins indoors with Kanako wearing a white blouse buttoned up to the throat and a black skirt. She will unbutton the blouse and then remove it, but we have waited a solid two minutes for this to happen, all of it spent will sitting down. Under the blouse is a small bikini top.

Kanako stands. Oh good you say, the skirt is coming off. Not so fast. She sits back down to take off her shoes and her pantie-hose. Then she stands and down comes the skirt to reveal the bikini bottoms. She poses in the open doorway and the camera is initially positioned at ankle level before tracking upward. The last minute or so, she bends forward granting us an exceptional view of her imposing boobs.

Scene three begins with a door opening. Kanako wears a white sleeveless turtleneck top, and a khaki skirt. She wears this outfit to walk into the bathroom, where she takes it off for the bathtub scene. As her clothes come off we are treated to the sight of her sexy body in a beautiful bra and panties set.

The tub is filled with soapy water and within a few moments, they have turned over so we get a fabulous view of her butt.

She will stand up to apply some soap all over her body. As we watch, we are looking forward to her rinsing the soap away. But it never happens. The scene ends with her looking up at us and her body is still covered in soap.

I’ve no idea why, and it was most disappointing. Again, what were they thinking?

Scene four is basically an opportunity watch Kanako walk up a flight of steps wearing a micro-mini dress. There’s some revealing under-the-skirt views. When she get up top, she poses for a while, looks out from the deck which overlooks the jungle, then sits in a deck chair.

Before you can blink, she’s crawling around a pool in the same dress. It turns out that while she did climb up a serious flight of steps, to reach this deck and this pool, the whole purpose now switches to show us some cleavage. Hence the crawling.

Five has us back in Kanako’s bedroom. She wears a mismatched outfit - striped stockings, gingham checked panties, and a pink top, which eventually gets tossed to reveal a top which perfectly matches the panties.

Kanako poses sexily on the bed and we are afforded some nice views of her fine figure, until they find it necessary to bring out the dreaded lollypop sequence. Which doesn’t last too long.

Six is on the beach. Nothing special happens. The model will crawl around (views of her butt), then do some pseudo-surfing on a beach-based board, that is not even close to the water. She then sits under the rocks and uses a bottle shaped piece of ice to accentuate her big boobs. The last beach sequence has Kanako building a large mound of sand to ostensibly be flattened by her boobs, only we don’t see that. She’s building it, then its flattened. We didn’t miss it because it just wasn’t there.

Nor were there any transitional fades between segments - just jump cuts. This is jarring to say the least, and to be more specific, let’s just say that this entire beach sequence of four segments was badly edited.

Back to bathroom is next. Kanako joins us wearing a vee-necked sweater. She walks in and sits down on the edge of the tub. Next thing you see is her standing and her panties are revealed. Then she’s leaning over the sink. The she is lying on the bathmat on the floor and then sitting on a chair. Again we are victimized by the inexplicable editing which again displays a complete disdain for transitions.

Outdoors is next. Kanako wears a figure hugging sheath dress. She walks about, lies down on a beach lounger, walks some more near the pool before taking off her shoes so she can dangle her feet into the water. Ultimately she gets the bottom half of the dress wet and then removes it altogether to show of some lacy pink undergarments. This will lead to some excellent shots which show off her figure, but it seemed as though they had no plan, and made it up as they went along.

A club scene is next. Shot in the Jaya Club in Bali, Kanako is dressed up for an all night party. Short skirt, boots to the knees, and so forth. Only it is daytime and the club is empty.

She poses against the wall, by the windows, and at various places in the empty club. All in all a pointless scene.

The last scene has the bikini clad Kanako getting a massage. Its not even a good massage - more like the oil is just being applied to her body. It is during this scene that Kanako responds to questions we see in Japanese script at the bottom of the screen. Her first words in the entire DVD. Then as this ‘massage’ proceeds, we see the end credits in a crawl along the bottom of the scree. Two problems - the listings are too small and they go by too fast. Here’s an example. You can barely see her name at the bottom of the image.

There about three or four minutes of behind the scenes that follow. These are less than stellar, and can be safely skipped.

SUMMARY: A world class resort, a lovely model with an impressive figure, and some superb lighting are not enough to offset a woefully mismanaged job of editing. The editing is hardly the only culprit as most of the scenes suffered from a lack of imagination by the director. You have to do more than just plunk the model down and and move the camera. How about trying to get the model to be more relaxed. The lack of the rinse-off in the bath tub is an unpardonable error. I like Kanako’s looks and I am anticipating that she will fare better in her next release (December 7th) with Fuko. Click the last link for info on that DVD.
