The Skinny: We’ve not had anything on our pages from Chisato since Al-The-Editor and I did dual reviews of Chisato Morishita in Mykonos and elsewhere in Greece back in early 2006.. Those DVDs were called Artemis and Aphrodite. We thought they were great.
This one, A Monitor Desire is a merger of the beautiful gravure model genre and the stalking genre. The model is both pursued and frightened by an off-screen nemesis. Or is she?
Whether this DVD succeeds on dual levels or not is an intriguing question. See what you think as the review follows.
There’s a montage that unreels beneath some credits and we are introduced to the leading lady. She works in an office at a computer, she cleans her beautiful apartment, and looks smart on the street.
As these images parade on our screen, they are inter-cut with some other images of the same activity; only these are shot from a different camera - hand-held and b&w, and grainy. Chisato is unaware of that she is the object of some unknown person’s viewfinder. And that intruder is everywhere that Chisato is.
One morning Chisato is asleep. Her alarm goes off. Not surprisingly she looks glorious despite just awakening. After brushing her teeth, she dresses and leaves for work. When she gets home from work, she finds a manila envelope by her door. It is a DVD. When she gets a look at it, she’s quite scared. The DVD is filled with video of her going to work that very morning! In no uncertain terms, she’s been made aware that there’s someone ‘out there’ And that someone is not only following but is also capturing her on video. Can you spell intruder?
Well that’s about all I will tell you about the plot. No more spoilers in this review. The rest is just going to be about the model and the superb qualities of the DVD imagery. And I won’t have to tell you too much. The images speak for themselves.
What I can tell you is that this DVD is like a woven tapestry - beautiful to look at. The crisp and sharp transfer is as good as any I’ve ever seen. You are not only looking at a beautiful woman, but you are looking beautifully done video.
While Chisato is not going to be known as having a large or imposing bosom, we can point out that with the proper angles, her images can lead you to believe that she’s very busty. Let’s not say that, instead you should think that she is long legged, has superb on-screen presence, and in her own way is very charismatic.
She’s a very fresh presence in this DVD. While it is true that she’s not done gravure idol DVD’s lately - Artemis & Aphrodite were released in October 2005 Chisato has been getting work in Japanese movies.
So maybe you haven’t seen her before, so enjoy what you’re seeing.
Summary: A gravure idol DVD with a story-line. Check it out. Pay attention to not only what you’re being shown, but the style and manner in which they show it to you. This is a very well made DVD. The Behind The Scenes and Making Of segments follow.
They offer up a couple of interesting concepts in that a model by the very nature of her work is an exhibitionist. She should be very comfortable being on screen. And yet, when she has no control over when she will be the target of a camera, she is terrified. It will make you think of both the glamor of being a celebrity, as well as the risks.
I’m going to give this DVD a RECOMMENDED along with the four point zero rating. As the DVD draws to a close, there’s a very brief interview, which ends with Chisato flashing us a big smile, and then it’s Sayonara time.
