Megumi Kagurazaka - Undress

Undress - Megumi Kagurazaka - Final (2007)
Kadokawa Muse/Perfect Choice
Catalogue # DABA-394 Region 2 Disc

The Skinny - a big thumbs down to the producers, Kadokawa Muse who months ago released news of Megumi’s final DVD. Here’s an excerpt of the promotional blurb: This release features the shocking final gravure DVD from sexy big-bust idol Megumi Kagurazaka and this time she’s showing you her all. That’s right the top comes off those 92cm behemoths in Megumi’s first ever all-nude release, as Megumi travels to a tropical island to bathe lustfully in a hotel bath, try on see-through tights, and more!
UPDATED - November 9th - See Link at bottom of page in comments.
Truth is this was all just a big come-on, a hype to boost sales. It’s still Megumi Kagurazaka but if you are of a thought to buy this DVD to see her in her ‘first ever all-nude release’ you’d best think again. It ain’t happening the way you are hoping for. Well, technically. she does appear without clothes. We do see a few brief moments of Megumi sans any clothing but we see her from the back.

When the camera does circle around to a position in front of Megumi, our view is from the shoulders up. So she did show all - just not to us. So let’s have a look at what they called, showing us her all.

The shot on top is what you see in the scene. The second shot is shown in the making of section. Now that we got the ‘all nude highlight’ out of the way, how about a review of the rest of the DVD?

First let me tell you there’s a recurring theme running throughout the DVD. We will see Megumi dressed in a business suit and white shirt. She will be walking on city streets. Ultimately she will enter an apartment and collapse on the floor, just like Hitomi Kitamura did in her recent DVD Sweetie . Are they telling us that Megumi isn’t cut out for the world of business? More on this later.

After the montage we are at the one minute 30 seconds mark. We see Megumi dressed in a long white lab coat and she’s on a walk through a Pattaya, Thailand street market. All the vendors set up their stands under colorful umbrellas. Megumi finally clears the shopping mart and boards a van. Soon she will remove the lab coat to reveal a black bikini. For the rest of this chapter we will view Megumi in the back seat of the van as she shows off her figure.

Turn this, turn that way. Her figure is still marvelous but there is little eye contact between Megumi and the camera, which means we lose one of Megumi’s best talents which is to charm the viewer. Basically that reduces the value of the scene drastically.

A pink bikini is Megumi’s next costume. The Pattaya beach is deserted. An out of place for the beach sofa is her set decoration today. Megumi will apply some sun tan lotion…and not look at the camera at all. Now I have an idea that this is two scenes into the DVD and Megumi has yet to engage us. Why doesn’t the director take action to bring the model into a better state of mind?

Scene three has Megumi in a different bikini, and this time she will take to the sea. This scene has three parts or you can call it three scenes. First she’s in the sea.

Then second she’s in a pose amid some huge rocks…

and third she has shed the bikini top and replaced it with some sort of silken wrap. This will show off a good portion of her breasts.

Unfortunately, once they take to the rock Megumi doesn’t have a good place to stand, and the same is true for the director, and this limits the angles from which they can shoot. Megumi does better with regard to looking at the camera, and her body is still great to see - but this scene really suffers due to the bad choice of location. They should have started her on the rock, and then abandoned it very quickly.

Moving along Megumi treats us to some wonderful images of her figure in the next four-part scene. She begins in a red sarong. She sits on the floor of a passage way in the hotel. There’s the rails, the stucco walls and a spiral staircase, and she will sit on a lounger by the pool - all in the same outfit. Megumi will take down the sarong to waist level to reveal her gorgeous bosom encased in a beautiful garment.

The scene has her sitting, then standing, then posing on the staircase. Good variety, there’s motion, and we can just enjoy her beauty.

But again I must point out that posing the model against a wall, or a railing will limit the position of the camera, and sometimes this will impact the value of the scene.

Next up is an interview and it is a carry-over from the previous scene, so we still are entranced by Megumi’s bust.

Dinner with Megumi is next. She wears a long gown, a pretty necklace which trails down right into her cleavage. Megumi will pose in the restaurant, sit sown for a spaghetti dinner, sample some watermelon, and look gorgeous.

Unfortunately they have her at a table against a railing and the director wastes yet another scene due to lack of availability of 360 degree views of the model.

A dance sequence is next. Only Megumi is seated through most of it. Actually she’s just moving her right arm, and turning her hand artistically. Not much to write about here. She looks good, the costume shows off her shapeliness, and yet the scene does little or nothing for you.

An interlude back in Japan follows. The business suit clad Megumi is walking. She gets a phone call (sound was dubbed in because the phone rings even after she has opened it). She says nothing. Fade out.

Back to Thailand, Part Two of the interview launches. A minute later this fades out, and we are back to Japan.

An apartment door opens, Megumi throws a light switch. The light is dim, and she falls to the floor, takes off her suit jacket, and hurls it away disgustedly. She tries to stand and fails. Fade out. I can’t tell you what it means.

Back in Thailand, Megumi shows up next in a black lace full body suit. It looks good and shows off her shape. Once again he pins her against a balcony railing, but this time he moves her around and moves himself around enough to get a lot of variation and good angles. Megumi seems much more into it. Maybe she’s aware of the effect she’s having on we viewers AND the production team. Well he has her walking, crawling , and ultimately tearing gaping holes in the body suit. In what has been a rare occurrence for this DVD, I am really, really pleased with a scene.

More questions for we viewers will follow. Back in Tokyo, Megumi is still on the floor in the apartment. She’s lost in thought. First she looks desolate, then she brightens. Fade out.

In the next scene it begins as a bath scene. The water is running, the tub is filling. Megumi is wearing the lab coat we saw early in the DVD. She removes it and we now see her in a beautiful bra and panties set. Immediately she will use her hands to cover her bust. For the next two plus minutes, she will be sitting on the edge of the tub, or kneeling on the floor next to the tub, or sitting on the floor in the bathroom. She never does get into the tub. She never does remove her hands from her boobs, and the scene ends with Megumi looking sad and actually we see some tears falling from her eyes. Is she showing us that she is sad because her career as a gravure idol is ending? Seems that way as she apparently is not going to show off her breasts in this scene. Fade out.

Next we see Megumi once again in the business suit. Only this time she’s in Pattaya at the sea shore. She looks at us. Her face brightens into a gorgeous smile. She will walk out onto to this jetty.

She takes off her clothes. I mean she takes off all her clothes. From the rear we see she is totally nude. When the camera circles around to the front, we get the shoulders up view.

She seems content and at ease. Is she telling us that she will return as a gravure model, or that this is it. Never again will we see her in bikinis and the like. The answer to this question is likely that this is it.

The credits follow and in the post credits sequence which is a making of segment, we see that Megumi did smile a lot during the scenes. Only the director, producer, and editor chose to not show us these. As the video concludes, Megumi is talking to us. A series of questions appear in Japanese script. I can’t tell you what the last question was - but the letters DVD do appear in the midst of the Japanese script. She speaks from the heart, and there’s no doubt of how sincere she looks. Maybe she is telling everyone that this is REALLY her last DVD. And here is a the last shot of the DVD - Megumi’s most enigmatic smile in the entire DVD. And the DVD ends.

Summary: Disappointing at best. After you get past the marketing gimmick employed by Kadokawa Muse to get people to buy this DVD which will anger you, then you can deal with the fact that this production was flawed nearly in every scene. It was as if the director and editor didn’t really care. That leaves us with Megumi herself. She still looks wonderful. I appreciate every moment that I can watch her on screen. However the negatives outweigh the positives. I will score this at three point zero most of that is because Megumi is one of my favorites. But that three point zero rating will also have to include a statement of NOT RECOMMENDED.

Well, I’m glad you confirmed that she doesn’t actually get naked, now I won’t have to bother getting the DVD - I was never a huge of Kagurazaka Megumi as you know, but she does have some world-class boobs.
Kadokawa pulled the same stunt with Kitamura Hitomi’s new one, Hit Me! - the press release did not in any way match the contents of the disc, which I bitched about in my review.
From your review, it seems as if the same production staff probably worked on the two discs together, as I seem to have the some of the same complaints about the camera work and you do for Undress. If Kadokawa hopes to continue in the idol business, I hopethey get some better people behind the camera. And fire the PR department for spreading blatent disinformation.

Well, the news will spread -
So the Kitamura Hit Me DVD is also bad? Not surprised.
As for Kadokawa’s PR department - I’d like to ask why cdjapan didn’t ask for a copy of the DVD before publishing the promo.
Well we already know the answer, don’t we? They’re in the business of selling DVDs.
Now that I think about it, the owners of the movie houses and multiplexes don’t put up notices that a certain movie sucks - they open the movie, the reviews are published. People stay away and the movie closes.
I’ve got a good number of DVDs with Megumi Kagurazaka that I will watch again. This one will get tossed. And I won’t lose any sleep over it.
I’m going to check out the Kitamura review on your site.

Just as a quick follow up, although Undress didn’t show us Megumi in the buff, she did kind of show us the money in a recent pictorial in Friday (a Japanese magazine). I posted some scans over at GIJo.
