The Skinny: One of Japan’s loveliest gravure models travels to Rota in the Northern Marianas. And we get to view Mikie Hara and her many smiles in this splendid DVD called Micky Smile.

The DVD has a chapter menu which lists 15 chapters which break down into the opening, closing and off-shoot – that’s three, seven chapters of Mikie doing her gravure model thing, and 5 chapters of Mikie being a tourist on this small island.

That’s the simple overview. The reality is that the modeling chapters show off a beautiful woman to our great advantage despite being rather haphazardly edited. The Travelogue scenes give us a peek into Mikie’s personality; she’s not only great looking but she seems like a real sweetheart as well.

Opening Scene: Red bikini time. Mikie runs and scampers about looking athletic as well as completely comfortable in a skimpy bikini. The scene is marred by the jarring, and completely misplaced musical soundtrack of an angry punk-rock tune. Just turn down your volume.

WaterSpray: Give a gal a turned on water hose and watch for to have some fun. Add in a ground sprinkler to run through and Mikie really does smile and get into it.

White Room – a pretty scene with continuity problems. She begins with a white slip over a white bikini. Sometimes the slip somehow is back on, then off again. And we get the first of multiple shots in this scene and others with Mikie rolling over, rolling over, rolling over… to me this seems overly repetitive.

Poolside – Mikie wears a wonderful green bikini which proclaims on her left breast I Love [heart symbol] Sol.

She doesn’t do much more than flirt with us as she doesn’t go into the water. And again you’ll have to turn down the volume to avoid the angry rock music. Makes you wonder – what were they thinking when they chose this music.

Fascination – Mikie wears a gorgeous yukata over a bikini. She’s indoors and is basically seated or reclining on a wooden bench throughout the entire scene. Except for when the continuity goes awry and we get Mikie reclining, walking, reclining, and again walking. They’ve managed to skillfully employ both light and shadow to create some marvelously warm and romantic shots. A piano plays softly on the sound track. Easily the best scene in the video.

Cowgirl – Mikie wears cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, a top which employs some cowhide stitching and a seemingly out of place and overly large crucifx which nestles just above her cleavage. Oh, and I forgot to mention that she also wears some extremely brief leather shorts. This scene is shot in one of those abandoned buildings which apparently must occur in every single gravure idol DVD these days.

Gentle Breeze – Mikie wears a white shift over a white bikini. The main concept of the scene is that that breezes make the shift cling to her body, or they make the shift billow out. Mikie looks fine but there’s not much going on.

Twighlight Beach – the last of the modeling scenes finds Mikie on a the beach at twilight. It’s not really a pretty beach, but Mikie looks great in this bold bikini. The glow of the setting sun makes for superb lighting.

But once again the continuity gaffes occur. She’s walking then lying down, then posing against some rocks, then back to the same spot where’s she lying down, and then rolling over again, and again.

Or she’s on hands and knees crawling towards us, then she’s walking, and then she’s back on the same spot only now she’s on her back, only to roll over yet again. At least the last shot of this chapter has the least amount of light.

As for the tourist type scenes, they are nothing special visually but are fun -

There’s the Special Feature Section aka Making Of and Behind the Scenes – In the Cowgirl segment the camera guy wants to get a good shot of Mikie’s cleavage and she keeps denying it by bending forward and pointing to her face. Overall the making of segments are quite charming.

Summary – If you’ve read my prior reviews with Mikie, then you know that I think she’s a great model. Nothing in this DVD will nudge me away from that thought. Mikie Hara is a wonderful model with a fabulous smile. She has a very pleasing style and onscreen personality. And the clincher is that she has a great body.

Though the direction of this DVD was spotty, I’m still going to give this one a recommendation. Don’t give Mikie a pass-bye when you see her gorgeous smile on the DVD box cover. Add her to your collection.
