March Madness

Yes, it is March again. Baseballs are being tossed around in Florida and Arizona as the exhibition season is here.

College basketball is at the forefront as the annual college hoops tourney will be with us very shortly.

Golf clubs are being polished and cleaned, as this is being written, and even used at the links, weather permitting.

Two Sundays ago, Hollywood patted itself on the back with it’s annual love-fest aka The Oscars telecast. Some of the world’s most glamorous actresses appeared on television wearing the latest designer gowns. There was plenty of glamor on display.

And for those of us in the northern climates, we will soon be looking at the beginning of the coat-free season. Yes, spring is in the air — and they say this is the time when men and women emerge from their winter coats, and the air is filled with romance.
So there’s no time better than the present for a look at some very romantic images. Our featured artists this month are a group of Chinese artists whose works are found in galleries, museums, and private homes throughout North America. First up is An He from Guangzhou.

As a specialist in figurative painting, he has become one of the hottest artists in the country for his romantic paintings of women. An He’s tremendous appreciation and admiration for women comes through in all his work. The art allows us a peek into the inner beauty of his subjects. Rhapsody in Pink (above) is simply wondrous.

His women are usually caught in a moment of inner thoughts as if unaware of any other presence. The settings are sometimes in gorgeous interior settings, sometimes in the pastoral out-of-doors. His subjects are always breathtaking and timeless as is the thought of the just-around-the-corner springtime! Above is DayDream.

It seems quite difficult to pick and choose between these great paintings. Woman On a Sofa (above) is lovely. Daydream is fresh and glorious. This art has a way of drawing you in. Is it the beauty of the models? Or do you like that in each of the paintings, flowers play a role. Or just maybe it is the romantic aspect of each of these paintings as they recall that springtime with its attendant refreshment is here in just a few weeks.
Guan Ze Ju is our next painter. Check out the amazing Romantic Day (below). Art like this is deserves to be hanging in a museum, don’t you think?

Or how about Girl On A Bench (below) – can you spell clarity, details, and stunning?

But wait. There’s more. Maiden In a Garden (above) is by Xu Wen. This artist also gives us the masterful Maiden Behind the Curtain (below top). Look at the rich red and golds in this work. Or do you prefer the dreamy art with the two lovely women by Zhong Yang Wang (below bottom).

Our last artist specializing in romantic portraits is Shang Ding. His first is called Girl In Wind Of April (below top). This is a woman in a completely natural setting. There’s nothing dream-like or overly stylized about this work. But it conveys a sense of warmth and honesty.

Yu Tan With Basket (above) is a portrait of a happy woman. While it neither filled with detail, nor overly romanticized, you sense her contentment and satisfaction. Ding’s last work (below) is called Morning By the Pond.

She’s by the lakeside, she’s coat-less, and I’ll call this one ‘Best In Show’ and leave you to arrive at your own conclusions about this magnificent painting. The scene is tranquil and far from the mad pace of city life. The location is far from the nasty stormy weather we are having in the Northeast of the USA. We will have to wait a few more weeks for the official beginning of the Spring season.
On the other hand, why go mad trying to figure out the NCAA college hoops tournament. Wouldn’t you rather see lovely ladies without coats? You won’t have to wait for springtime to arrive if you visit the pages of Also on Video year round. So kindly find your ‘remote’ aka mouse and bookmark our pages in your favorites list. On our pages, Spring is here right now!
