The Skinny: Let’s see – a sunny day with blue skies, a white one piece bathing suit, and a very cute and busty model – sounds like an excellent recipe for a successful DVD. However, be warned and save your money!
They’re calling this DVD Happy and the model is the buxom Yuri Kobayashi. By the way – the pigtails she wears in the opening scene add to her allure.
Next she walks into view wearing a blue see through over a rich blue bikini. This is craggy and rocky shoreline. Unless the texture of the rocks has some appeal to the geologist in you, you’ll be fousing on the model, who in this scene is unadorned – no jewelry of any kind, just a bikini and some sandals. The scene lacks any directorial excesses. Yuri poses and the camera moves around her leisurely.
I spoke too soon about directorial excess. The next two scenes just defy comprehension. First Yuri does what she does but for two and half minutes – most of what you see is intentionally jerky and blurred. Okay he went for effect – you’ll be reaching for your remote to fast forward past this nonsense.
Then he has Yuri in a brilliant red warmup track suit. For the first minute and a half he shrinks the visible image to half your screen so he can surround her in black. Like a letterbox effect; only it is more than letterbox as top & bottom plus all sides are in black. Eventually he gives us a full screen image. Lovely Yuri takes off the track suit to reveal a sleek red one piece bathing suit.
Next we are back on the rocky coast line. Yuri wears a white sun dress with neckline to hem buttons. A good sign as buttons can be undone. She wears a black bra with lace and white polka dots. The lighting is fine until he decides to drop out the color and fiddle with the speed. Lucky for us as this is only temporary as soon Yuri is back to posing while looking splendid in what is now revealed as a bikini with matching top and panties (with the polka dots).
Yuri shows up in a nurse’s outfit next complete with eye glasses. It is a pink uniform and has buttons all the way to her throat. Should we fast forward or should we wait… Well nothing much happens – we find out the glasses haven’t got lenses in them and Yuri opens one or two buttons to reveal the beginning of a bra. She’s a beautiful woman but this scene was a complete waste of everyone’s time.
Back to shore – Yuri wears another type of dress that you wear only to come and go to the beach as well as cover up your bikini. She climbs up the lifeguard tower and the camera swirls around circling. We see that this setting is a pool (unfilled) and no one is using it. Maybe it is under construction, abandoned, or off season.
Under the wrap is a bold yellow bikini. This is yet another scene at this non-operating swim club’s pool. I can’t figure it out – but you’d have thought they would find a beach SOMEWHERE! Yuri is really an eyeful – but it is almost as if she has to carry the entire DVD on her looks.
Then we are back in the doctor’s office. You will remember the painting on the wall. Yuri is sitting on the leather couch wearing a greenish-golden bikini. It’s not really a bikini worth mentioning other than it is a perfect match for the couch and pillows. The credits crawl by in Japanese script, and about 45 minutes into the 1 hour DVD, the primary video ends.
An interview immediately starts. Yuri wears a cutdown sweat shirt that reads Authentic Nordic Sexy Movement, and she seems to like it very much. Unfortunately this runs a long five minutes, and the single shot I will show you is all you see for the entire five minutes – Yuri talking.
A slide show follows. It runs for the last 10 minutes of the DVD, and 90% of the pictures take up no more than a quarter of the screen. There are some large ones that are nearly full screen but not that many. In my opinion – they have wasted fully one quarter of the DVD – the last 15 minutes are used for the 5 minute interview and 10 minutes of slides. If I want photos let me buy the picture book.
So I am sad to report – although Yuri Kobayashi is a delight – this is one DVD to avoid. Two point zero is all I will award this DVD. And all of those points go to the model. The director and the producer should be taken out behind the woodshed and be given a strong paddling for opting to foist this DVD, an utter waste, on the model’s fans.
