What to do?
When a Japanese bikini idol that you adore makes a below average video, or when an idol that you never pegged as top drawer material makes a wonderful or superb video, do you hesitate to apply a fitting number of points on your personal rating meter?
Well…maybe. I don’t hesitate to highly rate or to drop a poor score into the mix, but if I do, often there’s some opposing feedback. But guess what – I can live comfortably with or without agreement. We are not creating a lifestyle document – it’s only an opinion on a DVD.
So much for the preamble, so much for the C-Y-A. Just kidding. I first became aware of Arisa Oda when she appeared with one of my faves, namely Megumi Kagurazaka, in a two disk DVD called Diamonds. Later I watched them together in Eight. Enamored as I am about Megumi K, plus the factor that much of Diamonds was silly, I opted to not review the DVD. I still stand by those comments.
But I’ve had an opportunity to watch Ms Oda at work in more than a few solo DVDs. She’s not the owner of a huge bust, but she does have great legs and a marvelous caboose. I’ve made a decision to make her a model whose DVDs are regularly reviewed in my AoV, and that should tell you how impressed I am.
This one is entitled Drama-Chick and is a combo production from Japan Media Supply, Studio Moon, and Cube Productions. Drama-Chick has a few things not normally seen in gravure or bikini idol DVDs:
A) Time Line – or Real Time Sequencing: scenes are linear not random
B) Bathroom event other than Bath, Shower, brushing teeth, or make-up
C) Toplessness – no pasties of any kind
After the montage, we find Arisa asleep in her hotel room. Looks like a hotel in Pattaya, or more likely Jomtien, Thailand. She’s wearing panties and a cotton zippered top emblazoned with Minnesota on it. Have no doubts, we are not in Minneapolis. She awakes, takes a swig of water and offers the bottle to us. Some languid coming awake time follows. Then it is off the the bathroom, for a tinkle.
I’m not kidding. Camera is at floor level, and stays at floor level, but clearly the toilet is in view. A woman comes in drops her panties to her ankles and sits down. A few seconds later we see a bit of bathroom tissue in a hand. Nothing offensive is shown or heard. All of what you are thinking is a surmise on your part. But the inference is clear. There’s no mistake. Did we really need to have that included? What do you think?
Next Arisa has a very well done bath, marred only by the fact that the utilitarian panties dropped to the floor for the just witnessed seated performance are left on the floor, and we find Arisa in the bath wearing infinitely more sexy panties. As I said above , Arisa has a primo derrierre. Next follows a successful shower scene ‘highlighted’ by an actual shampoo. Cinema verite indeed.
Arisa then dresses for the sunbathing/posing session on the beach. The crocheted bikini looks marvelous but somehow seems inappropriate for the beach. And its definitely wrong for a swim. The first interview session is next on our dance card. Can’t tell you the topics under discussion, but Arisa looks great while talking.
Next comes two successive glamour poses. We can honestly state that the hotel’s gardens are beautifully manicured and in full bloom. The lush tropical plants add a good amount of color. Keep in mind that they do not detract from the model being the subject of the scenes – and Arisa is more than up to the task.
Especially with the very creative camera angles which bring high visibilty to her cleavage as well as her butt. Following this we cut to a night scene as Arisa buys some dumplings from a streetside Thai food vendor.
Next day – and Arisa is down at the beach. Her bikini is nothing to rave about – a colorless (very mild pink) affair that clings nicely but has little visual appeal which fits the hazy sky and the less than pristine waters. Note to the producers – Pattaya may have a better night time scene – meaning clubs, bars, discos, and available ladies of the evening (we understand that the production boys have to have fun too) but the Phuket beaches are exceptional.
Next up is an afternoon at the pool. Arisa is rigged up in a very light-weight two piece number in red that isn’t quite a bikini (no bra cups) and seems to reveal as much as it conceals. There are both underwater shots as well as surface shots in this scene. When the camera wanders to sneak a peek at another busty gal, Arisa, acts perturbed and troubled. Guess what – it is Megumi Kagurazaka; and this is the third time that these two have appeared on screen together.
I don’t know what to make of that. Maybe Arisa sheds light on it in the following interview segment. Next comes a very cute scene on the beach. Arisa is very frisky. She jogging or running playfully ahead of the poor guy manning the camera. She has two problems. First – her top doesn’t seem up to holding her boobs in place. Arisa has to stop and make adjustments periodically. Second – the tied wrap skirt is also in danger of coming free. This piece of her costume also needs some tightening up measures. I’m not being critical – this actually adds a tiny bit of ‘suspense’ to the scene. Will it won’t it fall off?
Later on it’s night-time. Arisa is again shopping in the street market. This time she samples the exotic fruit called durian. Kudos for bravery must be offered to Arisa because a durian is notable. The web dictionary defines durian – A large fruit from southeast Asia that has a creamy, gelatinous texture and a nauseating smell similar to that of stinky feet.
The flesh is savored by many from this area, but outsiders find it a difficult flavor to become accustomed. On my three tours in Thailand, I passed on sampling the durian every time I saw it.
Fortunately day follows night. The next day Arisa is adorned in another bikini and she gets a massage. And following that we have another shower – outdoors as well. While this is the non-descript colorless bikini we saw earlier, there’s no doubt that when wet and clingy, it gains points in appearance values.
Next is a glamour scene with Arisa posing in skimpy lingerie in bed. Very sexy, very romantic, and very well done. It’s not quite the best scene in the DVD, but it does wonders for for the viewers. And that is the lead in for the finale.
By means of filters, I guess, the next looks like it is a b & w scene with just a slight tint. Arisa herself looks like she’s suddenly undergone a drastic skin color change. She’s completely dark, and she’s completely topless. The camera placements are remarkable in two ways – we see the exact shape and size of her breasts when the camera is pointed upwards from just above the knees. She’s got a firm and full bosom; with a certain pointed prominence to them. The second bit of wonderful camera work is when we get to see the magnificent shape and tone of her butt as she climbs the steps with us just below and behind. Marvelous.
There’s about 8 minutes of behind the scenes and making of segments that follow, includind how the red paint was dabbed on to make Arisa appear darker as well as qualifying that there was a ‘covering’ on her upper torso. All in all, this is a masterful work in the bikini idol genre. I really like what they’ve done here. The rating is going to be at four point zero.
I’m taking a few points off for the toiletry that we didn’t need to see, the in-joke involving Megumi K, and for the music which included too much of solo piano work by a artist called keisei, who has been working regularly tinkling the ivories in many gravure videos. It’s not that he can’t play – he’s actually very good – but the multiple piano solos, howeverv well played become Johnny-one-note music if heard too often in the same DVD.
Arisa is fabulous model and I think she’ll work in television when her modeling days are ended. The Pattaya locations are fine, but this time they just didn’t get the blue skies that we love.
Somehow, I’m sure we’ll have more of Arisa Oda on a Thai beach again. I’ll be happy to share it with you. But before that, our next review will feature the sexy Megumi Kagurazaka in Ma Cherie. Look for it later this week.

Ah yes… lovely Arisa. A bit small in the chest department for my tastes (comparatively speaking), but she definately has a killer body overall and one of the sexiest smiles in the business. I’m a little surprised that she went all the way to full frontal in this one, although she’s always pushed the envelope – look at any of her past releases.
Still, she has gotten to me: I’ve been scrounging around various store hunting down her photobooks and magazine appearances. In a way she remindes me of a much more-risque, smaller chested Takeuchi Nozomi. My budget’s getting stretched pretty thin for the next while with a bunch of new idol DVDs being released in December, I may have to stretch it a little more an pick this up. Looks like it’s going to be a soba/udon month for December….
On a sort of unrelated note: it’s kind of weird, but you can tell that Arisa doesn’t seem to be heading in the AV direction despite her pushing the envelope – she (or her producers) seem to chose her risque stuff a little more carefully/artisitically compared to idols like Karin or Kawase Yuna… with these newer idols, they get naked almost immediately and then… well… nothing. No on screen charisma, but “Hey, look at me! I’m nekkid!” That might have appeased me when Iwas twelve, but not now. God bless Arisa for having an actual screen presence and charisma to help things along.

Hahaha, something is wrong when you describe a model like Arisa Oda as “not huge in the chest department.” If those aren’t big I don’t know what is.
Anyhow, the near-nudity isn’t new for her videos. Her second or so DVD had her wearing just a thong and chocolate syrup for one part, and another was just a thong and toothpaste (or something.) She’s never technically fully uncovered, but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next DVD she just uses a Sharpie to cover her nipples :p

I guess I am not surprised with the dabbed on paint on Arisa. In my review of Yuka Sawachi’s Milk Chocolate – she used Hershey Chocolate sauce, and she used some greenish paint. They taped over nipples…but the chocoalte concealed. Just hadn’t seen a coverup like Arisa’s red paint before. Soap bubbles, whipped cream, tooth paste, shaving cream do not have opaque qualities.
Hey Z – I agree: Arisa has always pushed the envelope – but she has the zesty qualities of personality that offer an alternative to pure tease, or near to slutty. In short, even when she’s pushing that envelope, she still appears to be a regular and wholesome young lady. Nozomi is downright earthy and she oozes sex. Not so for Arisa. When you watch her walking up those stairs, your thoughts will turn to sex . But it is my opinion that her agents and managers have a great game plan in place for her. As I said – I think she’ll end up on TV – which is why she won’t be going naked.
