According to everything I’ve read this DVD is the first video appearance for Rio Natsume in at least nine months. As far as I know, there’s not connection between these nine months and the usual association we make when we hear this number in connection with months.
The producer is Takeshobo, and the title is EROTICA. It’s a bit of a departure for Rio, who we generally have seen as the big-titted girl from next door. You know, she’s genial, she’s fun, she’s accommodating, and she’s got these fabulous boobs! Here she plays a femme-fatale in nearly every scene. This calls for sex to be oozing out of every one of her pores. In every scene.
Frankly, Rio can’t really sustain this for a whole DVD. She can be a real hottie for a while. She can be alluring for a while. But her youthful face isn’t the right face for this style of video, and she often comes off as a young woman trying to pass herself off as an older woman.
Rio opens the video in a white top with black trim over black panties with white trim on a bed covered by a white comforter. Fortunately, they nail the lighting – as the scene isn’t overly bright, white, or light. But the scene plays flat. No spark, no juice, and no sizzle. After all, what can you do when all they ask of you is roll around on the bed? Turns out the white trim on the black panties can come off, so Rio has another job. Rio was squirming with supposed arousal. I was squirming with boredom.
Next Rio is tricked out in some kind of plastic-y looking outfit. . She’s in a bathroom that has a black toilet and a black sink. Now that is creative. Rio shows off her great body and we wish the scene had been better. She has a fabulous figure, but they didn’t do a thing with her hair. Neat earrings. And the camera work is often misplaced or too close to her. And this scene is about a minute and a half too long.
The third scene has Rio in a too small metallic blue bikini. She doesn’t have to act sexy in this scene because her costume is so brief, and because she’s supposed to be working out with a ‘flexible’ exercise bar. Rio has never looked as if she was into muscle tone before and the trend continues. Rio makes a lot of faces as she strains to bend the bar. I imagine there’s a good amount of strain on her poor bikini top as it struggles to hold in her huge tits. This scene was fun. Especially when her butt is bobbing and weaving in front of us as she punches a light weight punching bag. Or when she throws some punches at the camera. The scene closes with Rio astride some sort of mounted exercise ball.
The 4th scene has a poorly costumed pole dancer who is working on a lemon lolly- pop as she slithers. Mysteriously, the pole set turns into a red leatherette couch. The lollipop becomes a vanilla ice cream pop on a stick. Yes, the ice cream does melt and droplets fall into her cleavage. And yes there’s a residue of the vanilla on her face. A mistake on many levels.
Next Rio is back at a sea cave that we have seen before – it was her DVD Waterdrop. She actually looks great in this scene. Her hair is combed down into bangs in front. She’s wearing a red scooped-necked top with black short shorts, and fishnet stockings. Not what you’d normally see by the seaside; indeed a neat costume but her necklace is too bulky and literally spoils the view into her cleavage. Of course they do ask her to lean forward here and there and that motion causes her necklace to swing free so we do get some very brief glimpses into the scoop neck top. In a first time ever for darling Rio, she actually lifts her top up from the waist to reveal the bottoms of her boobies.
How about Rio in an empty bathtub? She wriggles around for a few moments, and she does give us some delightful views of her bosom which shows off all of her cleavage as its clasp is quite low and unzipped about a third of an inch. We soon discover that her shorts have a major league size zipper as well. And what’s more – her deeply cut top has pockets which nestle on the under-curve of both of her breasts. I am not guessing when I say these pockets are stylistic rather than utilitarian – I mean what would she put in such a pocket?
Well soon the empty tub becomes a bubble bath. Too much soap obscures her treasures and too many too close close-ups ruin the scene. Fortunately Rio is soon washing away these soap bubbles in a shower. It’s the same zippered, pocketed outfit but Rio does get wet. With the same problem – too many close-ups. Show us the tits not the back of her neck.
Flashing forward and busty Rio is a next seen as a bottle club hostess. Sort of an untraditional geisha. She offers her business card, followed by a hot towel so you can freshen up. She then pours your drink, double I.W.Harper Bourbon. A little bit of flirting comes next, and then she makes conversation. Her cocktail dress isn’t exactly tame as for colors or design, and it does flatter her figure, but her white plastic hoop earrings look out of place.
But the drinks keep on being poured, and she lights your cigarettes. Then comes some strawberries – which she bites sensuously. You can decide for yourself if this is erotic or not. I won’t tell you if I thought it was or not. But I’ll give you a clue – I noticed the arty designs on her fingernails.
Next a bedroom scene. Little Rio is tarted up in some very sexy undies. It is the familiar faux leopard skin pattern yet again in a gravure DVD. I wonder if the same stylist works everywhere, or the costumer is giving the producers a kick back on the johnny-one-note though multi-spotted pattern. The scene does have a good amount of intriguing cleavage shots as Rio crawls in our direction; but once again they’ve spent entirely too much time with too close facial views.
Finally a beach scene is next. It’s a rocky, craggy coast somewhere and Rio wears a lacy blue top with matching panties under her white cut-offs. You wouldn’t expect them to waste a beachfront opportunity but they do. We’ve seen enough close-ups – didn’t anyone at all see this, or ay anything about it before they decided to release the DVD?
Next we find Rio in a smoky room. There’s a TV on the floor as well as a hard piece of plastic. Rio is going to sit on this piece of plastic, and pour the famous clear sticky gel all over herself. They give her a smallish pink with green trim bikini to wear. We get to see the real Rio as well as the Rio on the TV all in the same scene. Technically it is very cool. Rio does look quite busty despite the sticky icky gel. She unties the top and uses her arms to keep her self covered. And the video ends.
There’s a 10 minute coda – not quite outtakes, and not quite a making of featurette. No, it’s more like intrusive looks at Ms Rio when she’s not prepared to be on camera. Naturally she gets a bit bitchy, and unapologetically gestures for the interviewer to get the hell out of her dressing room, after the interviewer actually makes some comments and gestures about Rio’s muscle tone on her under-arms and calves. We doubt Rio will work with this particular crew again. Her choice; not theirs.
This weak 10 minute segment drags down the over all value of the DVD, and consequently I’ll lower my rating to just three point zero. I hope the Director, Q. Kubata will revisit this DVD and see how close-up crazy he was throughout the DVD. Keep in mind that the real, happy-go-lucky Rio does show up in the coda, and I’m happy to include some of those images for you.

I’m a little confused… you loved the close up work in Matsugane Yôko’s Perfect Collection 2, but didn’t like it here? Well, in any case, I pretty much agreed with you on most of the points… http://www.gijo.org/releases/review/erotica

Good point Z. Guess it depends on the model – Yoko is gorgeous while Rio isn’t. I think Rio has played out on the beach DVDs and has to try something else – or the Takeshobo suits deem it in their best interests for her to try something else. While this isn’t a failed video, it is certainly flawed.
