The idol industry is without a specific beginning. Somewhere, ages ago, before Kodak and its imitators, came to Japan, one of the first guys with a camera pointed it at a pretty girl. That pretty much was the beginning of the idol biz; only no one knew it as such at the time. Maybe we should also say the idol business is endless because as long as there are men and women, men will desire to look at women, so we can expect the idol industry to continue for the foreseeable future.
But the models do come and go. New to me and maybe to you is a busty model known as Mayuka Okada. We are going to take a look at her DVD entitled iBust from the Livedoor Group.
For once, the video did not have a montage of what we would see in the video as the opening. There is a montage but it comes after Mayuka slithers down a set of stairs in a skin tight deep blue dress. She introduces herself and eventually begins to talk about her body.
Then we get the montage. And it is a pretty potent montage to say the least; there’s plenty of bulging cleavage on view; acres of cleavage if you will.
The first real scene is by an indoor pool. Mayuka doesn’t swim or even get wet in this one. It looks like a bikini that she’s using to conceal some key parts of a body, but I can’t quite find a descriptive term for the material of the bikini. Have a look.
This is followed by another interview with Mayuka wearing a few pieces of material strung together and they call it a dress.
Next is the usual kitchen scene. The model wears panties and a skimpy apron which covers most of her top. There’s nothing special to write home about in this scene.
But she does look cute as the maid-to-die-for as she whips up a ham, cheese, onion, and tomato omelet.
Before you know it we are off to the bedroom where she does battle with a battalion of balloons before settling down to some glamour posing in a white bikini the has dozens of steel balls as appliqués.
Another bedroom scene follows. Mayuka is wearing a lovely light blue bra and panties set. Within seconds she removes the bra, and the scene is rendered nearly worthless.
There’s a few neat shots of her booty in the panties, and she is really is quite shapely.
But the hands-covering-the-boobs shots don’t do a thing for me. She doesn’t look all that comfortable posing in this way, and she doesn’t smile at all. Possible this is the director’s choice for mood and so forth, but this scene won’t make anyone’s highlight reel.
Then we are off to the living room. Straightaway you can see a hula-hoop and a mini-trampoline are going to be props. Translation: Boobs will bounce and hips will swivel making her breasts wobble which is a good game plan for any idol DVD. The only question is will they execute this scene successfully.
Take 1 – the hoop is at ankle level in only a few seconds. After multiple takes she gets the hoop to obey her hips and we have a successful series of hoop twirls. The Trampoline worked too, but with a far greater level of success. After a few moments, Mayuka is breathless and the scene closes.
Another idol staple is next – the clear gooey substance! Mayuka pours the gel into her cleavage and we are off to a delightful scene of rub-a-dub.
They also trot out the old boobs-against-the-Lucite. I like them against a shower door but this seems artificial and staged, which of course it is – which is why I don’t care for it.
The use of the clear gel almost always leads to a bath scene. And here they take the expected path. Mayuka is finally WET!! Only they kill this scene by being too close.
As soon as the camera pulls back for a full length shot, Mayuka is waving bye-bye. In my view, this is a serious directorial mistake; a major gaffe.
Another interview scene follows. She’s in a tight sheath dress, with lots of steel hanging off a choker necklace. Will the model be able to stand up? We never do find out.
Suddenly we are back to the green bikini from the hula-hoop scene. This time it is stretching time. You can see the serious bikini bra liner through this green top, and now you know why we rarely see any nipple pokage in an idle DVD.
Without the music changing, Mayuka is now wearing a soft orange bikini while sitting on a large bouncing beach-ball. This too is becoming a staple and ‘mandatory’ scene in idol DVDs.
Okay fine, but please, not indoors. Nevertheless, they do provide us with a few fabulous shots that you can dream about.
Next comes a great scene with Mayuka in a flowing black and rose silk kimono which covers her in a fabulous black bra and panties set. She poses on a staircase and it is just a wonderful scene.
Then there is yet another scene that is being done to death throughout the industry – and that is, the dripping ice-cream cone. I’ll include a few images but this is getting out of hand. Hello! Let’s see some original thinking.
The ice cream scene went on far too long. And what ever subliminal images they intended to conjure up in the viewers’ minds, I’ll leave that discussion for another time and place.
The closing scene before the credits is a soap bubble bonanza. But not particularly well done. I’d choose something other than a white bikini to add contrast to the overly white conditions already created by the gallons of soapy foam and bath water.
Overall the video is well done, with some nice images. They rarely go for a long slow pan. Mostly it’s been assembled on the editing machine with ‘clips’ or ‘cuts’ only rarely running more than 5 seconds. Then it is another angle or shot, within the same scene. I’d like to see a few longer cuts here and there.
Still, I think the model is a comer. She’s not a gorgeous Yoko Matsugane, and she’s not a gamin with pretty big boobs like Rio. Our Mayuka has the weight and substance of a Harumi Nemoto, though not the beauty.
The direction will cost them some points but we hope for more and better from this model. Three point seven five is the score.
